Honesty & Politics

General Election fever is growing and, in all honesty, it’s becoming increasingly childish. Whilst UK politics is anything but dull, I am so fed up with various parties tactics. Following the success of the smear campaign against Ed Miliband following that bacon sandwich photo, it appears that politicians are focussing more on personal insults to their opponents rather than their own party policies.

And another thing – I am hating the politician approach to questions. It would be so refreshing if a politician answered a question directly! As a voter that is aware of the dishonesty of politicians in the past, I would much prefer a potential MP to answer a question with an “I am unsure” rather than spouting a vacuous, evasive and rehearsed speech. Additionally, it would make watching interviews with Diane Abbott a lot less uncomfortable if she admitted defeat instead of mumbling on with guess answers.

As for now, I’m registered to vote and excited to be actively involved in the future of this country. Due to the evasive approach exhibited in various debates on TV, I’m relying largely on my own research into the different parties manifestos to make a decision. With a rise in fake news and incredibly biased opinions I would advise you all to do the same – it’s a big decision to make and an exciting one, cast your vote wisely my friends!
